This work depicts an American Bison, the largest living land animal in North America. Once one of the most prolific mammals on the continent, bison were hunted nearly to extinction by colonizing Europeans as an act of genocide against Indigenous Peoples. Thanks largely to the conservation efforts of tribes in both the U.S. and Canada, the bison population is no longer considered vulnerable, though greatly decreased in range and number.

Each drawing is created through repetitive mark making using a 0.25mm pen.
Marks are layered upon each other to create shadows and depth. A single work takes approximately forty to sixty hours of drawing to complete. Archival quality giclée prints are made from the drawings, printed on textured cotton paper that directly mimics the original.
Prints are light fast for over 100 years.
